Spring break is a misnomer.  Virginia Woolf, George Gissing, Rousseau, Locke, and Orwell have become my bosses.

Signs of Summer (in Allison's world)
1. I actually update because time exists for such an activity.  Thank you to all of my loyal fans who eagerly await my posts and give me the encouragement to do so.
2. Facebook.
3. BOOKS and lots of them.
4. Life in Berkeley is actually enjoyable.

This morning, Elizabeth and I discovered that life does not start till 9 AM.  It is fruitless to wake up early to run errands.  Be lazy and roll around in bed.

Welcome Back!

I have decided to return from my self-imposed hiatus and begin blogging again irregularly.  I like to thank those who constantly check my Xanga to see if I have updated in an attempt to encourage me to unleash my glorious thoughts onto the world.  The above two statements are marked with excessive sarcasm.
I have decided to confess to the world that I am horribly addicted to the Winter Olympics, especially the biggest event, ladies figure skating.  My roommate thinks that I should seek help, but I explained to her that watching figure skating was a nightly family event during the Winter Olympics to cheer on the best competitor in the world, Michelle Kwan.  Obviously, my Asian bias is coming into play at this moment and having the same last name as her certainly plays a factor as well.  It was devastating each time to watch her place anywhere else on the podium but gold, especially in Nagano where she was simply outskated by Tara Lipinski.  Even knowing the disappointing results, we would huddle around the television to see the amazing performances of each of the ladies.
2006 has been different because sadly I do not own a TV so I have resorted to watching hours and hours of highlights on nbcolympics.com, my new favorite website.  Today in class, I obsessively checked the website for updates during the ladies free skate while pretending to pay attention to lecture.  Forget imperialism, the rise of the American activist state, and lastly the changing of political parties during the antebellum era- I had more important questions to deal with: would Japan win its first figure skating gold, would Sasha Coehn be able to put together two clean programs to clinch the gold, and would Russia sweep the figure skating medals?  By 2:00, all of these questions had be answered and I promptly dozed off in my next class.  The excitement was gone.

turn your eyes upon Jesus,

look full in His wonderful face,

and the things of earth will grow strangely dim,

in the light of His glory and grace.

what a great remainder.  three more weeks here.  people need to start calling me back.
